Club Profile

The Boys and Girls Club of Saddle Lake, when it was founded in 1988, was the first Boys and Girls Club on a First Nation. Since then, we are one of two on a First Nation. We serve an average of 85 youth a day, with an annual number of around 600 different youth in the community of Saddle Lake. As there are limited resources for youth in Saddle Lake, the Boys and Girls Club of Saddle Lake is working hard to ensure that the needs of the youth are being met. We offer proactive programs that engage and address issues in the community, to lessen the impact of Child Poverty, as well as engaging the families to provide supports and resources for them. We are the only program in Saddle Lake that offers a drop in program. Saddle Lake Cree Nation has a population of around 7500 people, of which 65% is under the age of 25.

Programs Offered

Torch Group, Keystone Group, Afterschool Drop In, Computer Club, Homework Assistance Club, Youth Cultural Drum group, Saddle Lake Community Cadets, youth recreation nights.

We have several partnerships/programs that also offer programs in conjunction with the Club, these include: Saddle Lake Restorative Justice, Saddle Lake Crime Prevention Program, Saddle Lake Youth Recreation, Outreach School (partnership with Saddle Lake Education) and we have a RCMP Member stationed at the Youth centre, whose primary focus is youth programming
