Sassy’s Family Restaurant

Since 1979, Cory Porter has operated a restaurant at the junction of Keating X Road and West Saanich Road, serving comfort food at good prices to residents of Brentwood Bay and surrounding areas. His original restaurant, The Porter House, was later transformed into an award-winning Smitty’s Family Restaurant which he operated for 30 years.

In January 2012, he opened the jewel in his restaurant crown – Sassy’s Family Restaurant.

We lovingly chose our new name in honour of Cory’s granddaughter Sapphira, who passed away in 2011. Sassy was an exuberant and joyful soul who had a life-long love affair with food.

Family has always been a big part of Cory’s restaurants, and this is a true ‘Family Restaurant’ through and through. From the big box of ever-evolving toys that kids can choose from on their way in, through to our carefully planned kids meals and included desserts, Sassy’s is a great place for families of all sizes to come and eat and have fun.

As long-time residents of this community, we have a vested interest in its sustainability. We operate with this in mind in all that we do, and whenever possible, our ingredients are sourced from local farmers and businesses. Cory has always taken pride in providing young local residents with their first job while also maintaining a strong, experienced and loyal staff, many of whom rival his tenure.
