It is also our belief that all children play to learn, grow and experience the world around them. Our goal is to offer high quality childcare while providing a safe, secure, healthy and responsive environment for all the children in our care.
To achieve this philosophy we have a comprehensive Christian education program.
We will guide the children toward developing and achieving their fullest physical, social, emotional, intellectual and spiritual potential.
Our program is well balanced between structured activities and free play, social and quiet times, and ample opportunites for creative exploration and learning through play.
Communication between parents and teachers is a vital aspect. We believe in working closely with families, sharing ideas, needs and concerns and developing a positive and supportive relationship.
Our History
Shining Star Daycare opened its doors in June, 1991. At that time the daycare was located in Port Moody and was affiliated with Port Moody Pentecostal Tabernacle. When it began Shining Star was the only government licensed Out of School Care facility in Port Moody. They began by offering their services to the families of MoodyElementary School.
In 1995, Port Moody Pentecostal Tabernacle sold its building in Port Moody and moved, to Coquitlam, therefore changing its name to Coquitlam Christian Centre. The Daycare moved along with the church to where it sits now. Shining Star continued to offer care before and after school for the children attending two elementary schools in the area. Later Shining Star expanded to start a group daycare, which opened its doors in October, 1995.
In September 2005, once again, the daycare expanded and this time opened an infant and toddler program. Now Shining Star is able to care for over 100 children between the ages of one and twelve.
